WHAT DO YOU INSPECT?

Most people are really surprised how detailed an RV Inspection is! Depending on the size and age of the RV, the onsite inspection time can take up to 8 hours.

From the information collected during the inspection, a detailed report is provided to the client. Each report from RV Wise includes 80 - 100 pictures, video and 360 images of the RV.

WHY DOES AN RV INSPECTION INCLUDE SO MUCH DETAIL?

It's true, an RV inspection is more comprehensive, takes longer and an rv inspection cost is more than a home inspection. This is because the nature of an RV, it's construction and how it's used is so much different than that of a "sticks and bricks" house.

In addition to being complex systems, a lot can happen as the RV makes it's way down the road at 60+ mph! Even new RVs on their first road trip from factory to dealer! Along with  these mini earthquakes occurring with travel, RVs require maintenance that unfortunately does not always get done. This can all lead to issues that might not be obvious to the average RV owner and need to be closely examined by a certified NRVIA inspector to ensure they don't end up costing you a ton in repairs or leaving you stranded!

HOW ARE INSPECTORS CERTIFIED?

In order to earn your National RV Inspectors Association (NRVIA) credentials, you've got to get trained. I attended the RV Inspector training courses available through the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA). I then passed the NRVIA inspector certification testing and maintain my NRVIA membership, including the required continuing education. The  NRVIA is a professional RV inspector membership organization whose purpose is to promote excellence in the profession and continued improvement of its members’ inspection services to the public. They provide a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice that we at RV Wise follow for all inspections.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET THE REPORT?

Your report will be available by the end of the next business day following the inspection.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

Buying an RV is an important (and expensive) decision! A professional inspection often pays for itself by giving you the confidence to discuss the issues detailed in the report with your seller and negotiate for the best price and/or repairs before you buy.  See our RV Inspection cost here.

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR AN INSPECTION?

In order to properly cover all the points of inspection, the RV needs to be set up like it's going to be used. This can be in a dealership, private home or RV Park as long as the following list of conditions exist in that location:

  • RV should be available to the RV Inspector for a minimum of 8 hours.
  • All utilities connected. City Water, Electric, Sewer and some fresh water in the tank.
  • RV should be mostly level and wheels chocked.
  • RV fridge should be ON at least 12 hours for testing.
  • Propane tank should be at least 1/4 full.
  • The batteries (coach and chassis) should be charged.
  • Enough space for a ladder around the exterior of the RV with the slides out.
  • Enough space for awnings to be extended.
  • Personal items should be removed so all areas can be inspected.
  • Motorhomes must have minimum 1/4 tank of gas/diesel.
  • Due to liability issues, the NRVIA inspector is not allowed to drive an RV; instead they will run the engine and/or ride along as a passenger with the owner/seller driving.
